Kyla Kirkpatrick, widely known by her moniker, The Champagne Dame, is the founder of Emperor Champagne, Australia’s leading online champagne retailer. Celebrated for her expertise, media presence, and entrepreneurial spirit, she has become Australia’s leading voice in Champagne and a trailblazer in the industry.
Stumbling upon an article about Napoleon Bonaparte’s ties to Champagne in 2005, Kyla’s passion for the region was ignited. After devouring every book she could find, she hand-wrote a letter to one of the authors, who invited her to France to learn the trade directly. In a leap of faith, she left her fiancé and steady finance career behind, booked a one-way ticket to Paris, and began an extraordinary journey.
Her passion quickly flourished and became one of the first independent ambassadors of Champagne in the world, recruited by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) as its Sydney ambassador, representing some of the most celebrated houses, including Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot and Krug.
In 2008, driven by a passion for working with smaller families and houses of Champagne, she founded The Champagne Dame – a brand dedicated to educating, inspiring, and introducing Australians to both great maisons and artisanal growers of the region.
In 2017, after raising more than $1million, Kyla launched Emperor Champagne, growing it into what is now Australia’s largest online champagne retailer with an unrivalled portfolio, exclusive experiences and premium events. In 2023, she introduced Brad Pitt’s Fleur de Miraval to the Australian market and soon after became the sole importer of French Bloom – LVMH’s acclaimed alcohol-free champagne alternative.
Today, Kyla remains the only female importer of Champagne in Australia, a trailblazer shaping the future of Champagne culture while honouring its timeless traditions. This year, celebrates her 20-year commitment to Champagne and an impressive career carved out in a male-dominated world.
